House Limitations

You are allowed to own a house for a maximum of five days. There are no exceptions. When you reach the five day limit, your house will be cleared in a house check, and will be put up for sale for someone else to purchase. Switching keys around is not going to save you, for it won't switch the sign, and abusing the bot will not save you either if you are caught.

This is a basic list staff will use, but some staff members may change the amount a bit.

• 70+ people :: 2 Hours.

• 40-69 people :: 3 Hours.

• 39 people or less :: 4 Hours.

Guidelines about House Usage

These are no longer rules which are "set in stone", but instead general guidelines:

• 30 Minutes: Your yard or roof should be decorated.

• 1 Hour: Your yard or roof and one room should be decorated.

• 1 Hour and 30 Minutes: Your yard or roof and half of the house should be decorated

• 2 Hours: Your entire house should be decorated.

As from March 13th, 2011 we are making these rules more lenient. We will no longer be using arbitrary rules like "at least 1 item in every room" -- instead, staff will use their judgment as to whether your house is in use or not.

This means that you are allowed to have some rooms and/or the yard/roof empty (for example: if you are renting a room out; or using your house mainly for farming, cooking or other activities).

Waiver

If you believe your house was wrongfully cleared, please ask at the desk.  We will get to the bottom of it, and may ask that you talk to the person who did the initial check. Note:We are not responsible for lost items and prizes lost during a house check. However, if your house was wrongfully cleared, we may restore those items for you, if there is a valid screenshot with the house number and time present. It's also a good idea to save screenshots of your decorated house with the time and number as proof that it was decorated.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often are house checks?
House checks are held whenever staff feel like holding them, and we do not need to be reminded of them. We try to hold them anywhere between an hour to three hours, it also depends on the number of people in the dream, and the availability of houses and gardens.

Where do I have to be during a house check?
You must be visible in your yard. If you are anywhere else, or offline, the home will be cleared.

How often are AFK checks?
AFK checks are held every house check.  They will not be announced most of the time. Some staff give the courtesy of emitting the afk limitations and dates for houses that have been up for five days.

If I've had my house for 5 days, when will I lose it?
You will lose the house on that day.  During checks, staff members are expected to bump into every house sign to check the dates and time. If you've had it for five days, it will be cleared.

Why are your rules so strict?
Cypress Homes is a popular dream -- we only have 35 houses, and at many times we end up with no houses available for new guests. For this reason, we will clear houses which are not being used. If you have an issue with a particular rule, then please talk to a member of the Management Team.

Can I use the bot to reset my sign?
No. You may not.  If you are caught doing this to avoid the five day limit, your house will be cleared. In accordance to this, you may not sell your house via the bot and buy it back immediately after (this goes for you and your key holders.) We do have records of checking this. If we see that it has become a serious problem, we hold the right to deny you a home.

Why can I only have a house for five days?
We have perm owners who pay 5 GD a month for their houses.  If we allow non-paying guests to hold houses for extensive periods of time, we are ripping off our perm owners. This is not fair to them.  Plus, 9 days out of 10, we have 70+ people in the dream, and only 35 houses and 10 gardens. Does this seem fair? No.

Can a staff member hold my house?
Absolutely not.  We will not hold your houses for you while you are gone, and we will not warn you of house checks beforehand.

Why aren't gardens included in limitations?
At the moment, we do not have any problems with gardens taking up space, therefore they do not count

May I use a personal bot to hold my house and evade checks?
No. If you are caught, you will be removed from the house, and it will be cleared. No. Bots. Period.

My friend is AFK, can I rebuy the house and transfer ownership to them?
No. Absolutely not. If you are caught doing this, all parties will be punished. This is violating the system, and will not be tolerated.

My house-mate redecorated while I was AFK! It was cleared, but I was afk!.
You and your house-mates are responsible for the house. If you are afk and your house is redecorated, or someone with a key redecorates, you are held accountable. AFKing on top of that will increase the chances of it being cleared.

May I own houses on two different alts?
No. Under no circumstances. You are allowed one home for all of your alts. If you are caught with multiple houses using alts, you will be warned and one of the homes will be cleared. The second time, you will be ejected and both homes will be cleared. The third time, you will be ejected, 3 day banished, and denied homes. If you are caught a fourth time, you will be permanently banished from this dream. Do NOT do it.
